back pain treatment BackCare Clinic http://www.backcareclinics.org.uk

DM is a 38 year old accountant who first came to me in 2003 suffering with scoliosis which was discovered at a medical when he was 13.  He was suffering with pain which had made him unable to work as a teacher, continual eye blinking, which was aggravated when talking. He also reported suffering with fatigue and depression. At his second treatment he reported feeling very well, there was no pain, although he felt very tired that day, which often happens when you straighten the spine. He felt he was able to talk more without blinking. At his 3rd treatment he reported feeling strangish, although he had more energy and his eyes felt more alive. He had 3 treatments in April 2003.  At his fourth treatment in May 2003 he reported feeling "wonderful".  His shoulders felt freer and he was able to do weights at the gym. There had been no pain since his second treatment, but we were now trying to reduce the spinal curvature. On his 5th treatment, 3 months after his first visit, he reported feeling "marvelous", continuing improving and eyes were good. In March 2004 the patient did suffer a minor whiplash injury, but the neck restrictions were improved following treatment.  A whiplash injury is best treated with the equipment as soon as possible after the injury to re-align the vertebrae.

In 2004 we started using the SpinalMouse which has been reported in the European Spine Journal as equivalent to an X-ray.  However, it does give us more information about the range of movement. The first scan demonstrates a forward bent posture, irregular curves.  12 months later the patient is more upright (also using Ciabasan Posture Trainers + MBTs)  with better spinal curves.  In the frontal plane the scan shows an inclination of the spine to the lef and reduced left sidebending.  The scan a year later shows the patient more upright with improved left sidebending.

The most important thing is that the patient has been painfree since the second treatment and has had improved wellbeing allowing him to have more energy and ability to get on with his career.
