"There has never been an effective treatment for back pain until now.  Extraordinary results". - Daily Mail

Back Pain experts are excited about the 'Power Assisted Micro-Mobilisation" (PAM), a new tool that acts as a bionic hand, able to reach the parts of the spine that fingers cannot get to.

This revolutionary tool was invented by British Engineer Robert Taylor.  So far, the device, which mimics the  hand of a Physio at 25 times the speed, has had extraordinary results.

Mr Taylor, from Cornwall, has spent 14 years looking at the dynamics of the human spine.   He looked at the stresses that build up in the spine causing stiffness and pain, and worked out a tool for relieving them.

The PAM gets to the root of the problem by reintroducing lost mobility to the stiff joints.   The handset, which has pneumatic fingers, has three modes - 'walking', that presses each vertebrae, 'kangaroo' that stimulates the spinal reflexes and 'spasm' that relaxes muscles.

These are techniques applied by practitioners such as osteopaths.  After an average of three treatments, the spine is subtle once more, allowing the over-stressed joints to heal.  Once the spine has been re-arranged, a natural movement reflex is produced in the muscles to hold the vertebrae in place, at least until the problems build up again.

But practitioners are also discovering that PAM can be used to treat more serious conditions.   The 49 year old patient pictured right, had suffered scoliosis since she wad 17 years old.  When she was originally diagnosed, she had a curvature of 33 degrees.   Four years ago, her husband noticed a hump developing on her back and she suffered pain in the lower back and legs.  Her doctor sent her to a specialist, who told her she needed major surgery to prevent her spinal column from  collapsing.  The patient thought there was no alternative but to have the operation, the scoliosis has increased to 55 degrees and she was three inches shorter.

After learning that she required surgery, a problem with her sons knee took her to see a physiotherapist.  The physiotherapist offered to treat her spine with Power Assisted Micro-manipulation.  To date the patient has now received about 25 treatment sessions.  She has regained two inches in height, has no leg pain and little lower back pain.  "Best of all" states the patient " my specialist has told me I no longer need an operation.  My back is no longer curved enough to qualify".
